Bermuda Lichens

The lichens & lichenicolous fungi of the Bermuda Isles

Berger & LaGreca in Bermuda! Oct 31-Nov 6, 2007

From October 31 through November 6, 2007, Franz Berger & Scott LaGreca will once again be collecting lichens in Bermuda. Funding for this trip has been requested from the Bermuda Zoological Society (BZS). We look forward to some interesting collections, and potential new collaborations with the Bermuda Dept of Conservation Services, Bermuda Aquarium Museum & Zoo (BAMZ) and the Bermuda Biodiversity Project.

During this trip we are focusing on the Walsingham Jungle, especially the mouths of caves, which represent a unique, cool, humid, half-lit environment where we expect to discover species new to Bermuda. We're also going to visit the Paget Cemetery, where we expect to find additional new species growing on the variety of mineral substrates that make up the old headstones.
